Shane Evan Tomlinson
As we complete the last of our 49 acts of kindness for the Pulse victims, we're looking ahead to the holidays. It's a time of peace and joy for our community, but also remembrance and sadness for the loved ones of those lost.
The holidays are so full of cheerful busy-ness, it can be easy to forget folks who are lonely, hurting and in need. We reached out to Seniors First, a local nonprofit that has been helping seniors in Central Florida for 50 years. The group coordinates Meals on Wheels, in-home care, social activities and other programs that help seniors live at home independently.
Each holiday season, the group launches Operation Rubber Ducky, collecting new towel sets for local seniors. We kicked off our part in the donation program by hosting a few friends, who brought towel sets and helped us decorate cards. Our artists created some beautiful greetings we know the seniors will love!
This one was for Shane Evan Tomlinson. Remembered as a charismatic lead singer of the local band Frequency, Shane was singing on stage in another Orlando nightclub just a few hours before he became one of the Pulse victims. Fans and friends remember him as a fantastic entertainer with a vibrant personality. It seems like he brought a lot of joy to those around him.
We remembered him by creating a little joy for others tonight.
