Thanks to all our friends who helped us collect gently used costumes, we were able to donate these two boxes of dress-up fun to the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. We hope they bring smiles to kids who are knights, princesses, superheroes and firefighters at heart!
The costumes will be a welcome addition to the play area at the group's childcare facility. This one is for Frankie Hernandez, whose family recalls the way he taught his kid sister how to walk in heels.
During our visit to the Coalition, we took part in its monthly volunteer orientation. The group has many volunteer and donation needs, but one of the most pressing is babysitting help in the evenings while homeless children's parents are receiving job training, counseling and other services. This volunteer opportunity is open to adults and families with their own kids - so we hope to do this soon!
And just in case you think my kids are perfect little angels who are always enthusiastic about service, check out this picture I took during the orientation talk. They aren't too big on talking, but thankfully a little better about doing! :)
