Leroy Valentin Fernandez
Today was one of our most moving and rewarding experiences in kindness. We brought a friend to Lake Eola Park to share an encouraging message in sidewalk art. As we finished it, we met Junior, a Pulse survivor who had been shot twice.
He was walking by with a friend when they noticed our artwork. He asked if he could pose with it for a picture. He showed us his scars and, through an interpreter, told us that today was one of the first times he walked without crutches.
He told us it meant a lot to him. His story brought tears to our eyes (at least Mama's, anyway!) We are so glad we could make him smile. And somewhere, we hope this means something to Leroy Valentin Fernandez, too.
